My New Doppler

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted an update. I guess there’s not really a whole lot to blog about in between my dr visits since I’m still pretty early. I kept hearing people on my pregnancy boards talking about fetal dopplers and I thought that they sounded really cool. Plus, you know me, I am super paranoid and would love the chance to hear my baby’s heart beating away inside of me to gain a little reassurance.

Well, it came in the mail yesterday (for the low, low price of $25!) and I was so excited to use it but of course I was starving and had to eat first. I am always starving lately but that’s another story. Anywho, after I was done eating I laid on the couch and started moving it around all over trying to figure the thing out. I tried all the tricks that the book tells you and tried moving it super slow so I didn’t miss it. Alas, the only thing I heard was the sound of my own heart beat. Oh well. The book of course says that it’s best to use it around 14-16 weeks and I am only 9 and a half weeks so likely it’s just too early to hear it with this thing but there were girls on my boards that were hearing theirs and they are the same week as me. Gerr… I know people are all different and I’m sure that I will be trying it out nightly until I finally hear that little heartbeat. I’m just hoping that I’ll get to hear it at my dr’s office on Monday when I go in for my appointment!

I have no idea what to expect at this appointment. I know that dr’s vary widely. I don’t know if they will do a pelvic exam and a pap, listen to the heartbeat with a doppler, perform an ultrasound, or just sit me down and ask me a bunch of health history questions. I guess it’s a tossup and we’ll find out when we get there.

In other news, I bought my first baby-related item for myself. I know… kinda early for that, but I was in Disneyland and I just couldn’t help it! I got a onesie that had Tigger on the front and says Gerr under the picture and on the back, it has Tigger’s tail coming out of the butt! J Way cute, huh! I also got a picture frame to put my ultrasound picture in. It’s blue and has a Mickey Mouse on the front and says, “My kid is cuter that Mickey Mouse.” I love it!
